The past few days, I’ve been spending some time soaking in the scriptures from 1 Corinthians 13 about love. As I’m preparing for Keeping It Real Monday about online bullying, I’m realizing God knows exactly where He wants me in His word at this moment in time and it’s right here, learning more about His love.
And why might that be? Maybe because I’m going to be talking about a topic that can easily make me mad. Maybe because I need to make sure I’m really speaking the truth out of love. Maybe because I could go on a rant and become a bully myself (and that would pretty much defeat the whole purpose)…
Yep. Those are all very realistic and valid reasons. And yep. God knows what He’s doing and why I’ve been marinating in these verses on love.
I’ve taken the first two verses and written a couple of points that help me remember what God’s teaching me as I’m going through the scriptures and meditating on them.
“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Cor. 13:1
“If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” 1 Cor. 13:2
