“Holy Still”

May 11, 2015 by Adriel 4 Comments

KIRMPlainIn my last Keeping It Real Monday post, I talked about what I learned from my miscarriage, which serves as the backdrop for this song. Today’s song was written a few months following our loss. As I mentioned in my previous post, it’s important to hold on to Jesus and have an eternal perspective. This song, “Holy Still”, was an avenue God gave me to grieve and express my pain, but to also acknowledge the truth about Him and remind my heart of what was true. It’s a simple song, as is the recording, and it’s not one that I would normally share, but this seemed to be an appropriate time to share it.

This song applies to any situation of pain or trial…simply saying that God is still holy in the middle of a difficult circumstance is a good exercise for our hearts and souls. I know it is for mine at least. =)

The song and lyrics are below. I wrote the bridge the day I recorded this, just a couple of weeks ago. It signifies another aspect of closure for me. God has His special ways of doing things.

God is holy still,
Adriel

“Holy Still”
Words and music by Adriel Hong

1. Falling on my knees
Reaching out my hands to You
In the middle of this pain
There is comfort in Your name

(chorus)
On my lips Your name, Jesus, is healing
On my lips Your name, Jesus, is holy
You are holy still
You are holy still

2. Weeping at Your feet
Lifting up my broken heart
In this sacrifice of praise
There is comfort in Your name

(bridge)
Though I may not understand
The way that things have gone
All my strength and every breath
Is raised to You in song

Edifying Music Shout Out

January 30, 2015 by Adriel Leave a Comment

Edifying Music LogoRecently, I had the privilege of working with Stephen Bradley of Edifying Music on a song for his new album, Build Each Other Up. He had a crew of people work with him on this, a few of them fellow SoundCloud artists. What a blessing! Here is the song from the album that I contributed to, “Wonderful Lord Jesus Christ”, which was a joy to sing.

Stephen has generously posted all the songs from his album on SoundCloud and I also wanted to give you the info on how you can get your own hard copy of this edifying CD as well as where you can download the tracks if you so desire.

You can visit Edifying Music’s Bandcamp site to purchase the downloadable version or hard copy of the album HERE.

“Wonderful Jesus Christ”, as well as a few other songs on the album can be downloaded for free HERE.

You can also find his album on iTunes under Build Each Other Up or Stephen Paul Bradley, as well as on Amazon.

I’ve personally appreciated Stephen’s music and songs not only because they encourage my heart with truth from scripture and refresh my spirit, but also because Stephen’s life matches the message he’s sharing. He lives out his faith. His new album is indeed edifying and will build you up in the Lord. :-)

For the glory of God,
~ Adriel ~

P.S. I was neither asked or paid to endorse Stephen’s music. I simply am sharing a blessing with you! :-)

The 4 Year Mark

4 years ago my life changed overnight. I went to bed normal. I woke up in the middle of the night and I was never the same. As I reflect on the desperate months following in which my health would plummet to a critical point, I can finally face the memories, the losses, the guilt, […]
