In my last Keeping It Real Monday post, I talked about what I learned from my miscarriage, which serves as the backdrop for this song. Today’s song was written a few months following our loss. As I mentioned in my previous post, it’s important to hold on to Jesus and have an eternal perspective. This song, “Holy Still”, was an avenue God gave me to grieve and express my pain, but to also acknowledge the truth about Him and remind my heart of what was true. It’s a simple song, as is the recording, and it’s not one that I would normally share, but this seemed to be an appropriate time to share it.
This song applies to any situation of pain or trial…simply saying that God is still holy in the middle of a difficult circumstance is a good exercise for our hearts and souls. I know it is for mine at least. =)
The song and lyrics are below. I wrote the bridge the day I recorded this, just a couple of weeks ago. It signifies another aspect of closure for me. God has His special ways of doing things.
God is holy still,
Adriel
“Holy Still”
Words and music by Adriel Hong
1. Falling on my knees
Reaching out my hands to You
In the middle of this pain
There is comfort in Your name
(chorus)
On my lips Your name, Jesus, is healing
On my lips Your name, Jesus, is holy
You are holy still
You are holy still
2. Weeping at Your feet
Lifting up my broken heart
In this sacrifice of praise
There is comfort in Your name
(bridge)
Though I may not understand
The way that things have gone
All my strength and every breath
Is raised to You in song
